Gone Again is an essential Patti Smith recording. To me, it is her finest work. The price paid, the degree to which she rose above what must have been incredible pain and the statement hewn from the experience all point to her being on the highest tier available to artists of any order/5(44).
  2. Mirn says:
Like most of Smith 's best work, the songs on Gone Again aren't proper songs, they're song poems, with cascading music and dense, inspired lyrics. Smith sounds more mature than her earlier records -- there are only a handful of out-and-out rockers, and most of the album is subtle and folky -- which gives the album extra weight.7/

Aug 01,  · Gone Again is an incredibly organic, sincere record. Though themes of death and loss are dealt with in every song, it is neither morbid nor depressing; rather, the underlying emotion seems to be recuperation, renewal of strength and the attempt to make peace with death and also create an adequate tribute to life/5(42).

Apr 21,  · referencing Gone Again, CD, Album, 2 Patti Smith was in the 70 's the female figurehead of the punk rock-/new-wave-generatie. Horse, Radio Ethiopia, Easter and Wave are all classics from this period. In they unexpectedly pulled back from the music world, until in as the album Dream Of Life unexpectedly appeared/5().

Gone Again is the sixth studio album by Patti Smith, released June 18, on Arista Records. The production of the record was preceded by the deaths of many of Smith's close friends and peers, including her husband Fred "Sonic" Smith, her brother Todd, Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Sohl and Kurt Cobain, with whom Smith had sympathized.
